Addition to and Renovation of Historic Porto Bello St. Mary’s County, Maryland Though listed on the National Register of Historic Places in l972, Porto Bello was neglected and run-down by the 1980’s and in danger of structural collapse. To renovate and preserve the historic manor house and estate all architectural and landscape work was designed to be sympathetic with the original structure, thus unifying the new building/ garden complex.
